Increase in Canada immigration levels
Canada, 28th February: Canada family class immigration has witnessed a rise in the year 2012, official figures show.
And this is welcoming news for those looking to come to Canada under family class immigration scheme in the coming times.
Jump in Canada family class immigration—There has
been an increase of around 15 percent in the number of immigrants
welcomed by Canada under family class immigration category in the year
2012(over the year 2011). As per the official data, nearly 65,000
immigrants came to Canada in the year 2012 under the family class
immigration category.
Canada welcomed increased number of immigrants under family class and economic class immigration in the year 2012.
Increase in Canada economic immigration--It’s not just the increase in Canada family class immigration but also a rise in Canada’s economic immigration.
As per the data revealed by Canada immigration department CIC
(Citizenship and Immigration Canada), the arrival of 160,000 newcomers
under Canada economic class immigration resulted in an increase of 2.9
percent in the year 2012 over the previous year.
Increased immigration of foreign students in Canada—Immigration
of foreign students touched an all-time high in the year 2012, figures
from the CIC show. As per the official data, nearly 104,777 foreign
student arrivals were witnessed in 2012. And this is up by 6.5 percent
over the previous year (along with an increase of 60 percent from the
year 2004).
Growth in international student arrivals in Canada in the year 2012
is part of the government’s pledge to ensure growth and long-term
prosperity of Canadian economy, affirmed Canada immigration minister
Jason Kenney.
And this reinforces the fact that Canada is, and will continue to
remain a preferred destination for foreign students wanting to study
overseas primarily due to the fact that Canada offers the best
educational opportunities for studying, maintained Kenney.
More foreign students mean more revenue—Canada
economy benefits directly by the arrival of high number of immigrants,
including foreign students. Nearly $6.9 billion was brought in Canada by
around 218,000 long-term international students in the year 2010.
Apart from long-term foreign students, Canada earned revenue of
nearly $788 million (Canadian dollars) from foreign students staying in
Canada for less than six months duration.
Canada has not only welcomed highest level of immigrants in the
Canadian history but also has highest immigration rates (on a per-capita
basis) the world over, affirmed Kenney.
